Acacia End-Grain Cutting Board
Acacia End-Grain Cutting Board
A solid acacia end-grain cutting board that is gentle on knife edges and steady on the counter.
- Solid acacia
- End-grain cut
- About 1" thick
- Hand-wash
- 011 × Acacia end-grain board
Description
A board cut along the grain lets the knife slice across the wood fibers, and over time that wears down both the board and the edge. End-grain construction stands those fibers upright, so the blade slips between them instead.
This acacia board is about 1" (3 cm) thick, heavy enough to stay put while you chop without someone holding it. The upright fibers tend to close back up after a cut, so the surface hides knife marks longer than a flat-grain board.
It suits daily prep for anyone who cares about their knives. Hand-wash it, stand it on edge to dry, and oil it when the wood starts to look pale.

End grain that spares your edge
On an end-grain board you are cutting into the tips of the wood fibers rather than across their length. The blade parts them and they spring back, which means less drag on the edge and fewer deep scores in the surface. Your knives stay keen between sharpenings for longer.

Solid acacia with real weight
Thin boards skate around when you rock a chef knife. At about 1" (3 cm) thick, this solid acacia block has enough mass to sit still on the counter. Its warm, varied grain also makes it presentable for slicing bread or setting out cheese at the table.
