Description
Shrimp, mushrooms and diced peppers slip through gaps in the grate, and what does not fall gets pushed around with tongs until half the batch is overdone.
This rolling grill basket encloses small foods in a steel mesh tube so you can tumble them over the coals and turn everything at once. Preheat it, brush it lightly with oil, load the food and roll it every few minutes as it cooks.
It measures about 8" × 3.5" × 3.5" (20 × 9 × 9 cm), a size for side portions on a backyard grill.

The mesh walls hold bite-size food that would otherwise drop between the bars. Load cherry tomatoes, cubed zucchini, shrimp or sliced mushrooms and close the basket before it goes on the heat. Smoke and heat still reach every side through the open weave, so the food picks up the same grilled flavor.
Tumble for even char
Instead of flipping pieces one by one, give the basket a quarter turn and every piece moves together. Repeat every few minutes until the food is browned all around. A light coat of oil on the preheated mesh helps stop delicate food from sticking.
