A full batch, drained
Wudy Kitchen
A stainless steel spider skimmer with a wide wire basket for frying, blanching, and lifting dumplings.
Fishing fries or dumplings out of hot oil with a slotted spoon is slow, takes several trips, and keeps your hand close to the splatter.
A spider skimmer does the job in one scoop. The wide, shallow stainless steel wire basket lifts a whole batch at once and lets oil or water drain straight back into the pot as you raise it. The long handle keeps your hand well back from the heat.
Beyond frying, it lifts blanched vegetables, noodles, and dumplings from boiling water and skims foam from a simmering stock. Choose from three sizes to suit a small saucepan, a wok, or a large stockpot.
Wash after use, clear any food caught in the mesh, and dry it right away so the stainless steel does not spot. Hand washing is gentlest on the wire basket.

The 12" × 4.5" (31 × 11 cm) size suits saucepans, while the 14" × 6" (35 × 15 cm) size covers woks and large stockpots. The 13" × 5" (33.5 × 13 cm) size sits in between.
For frying and boiling, yes. The open mesh drains faster and the wide basket lifts more at once, with your hand farther from the heat.
Blanching vegetables, lifting noodles and dumplings, poaching, and skimming foam or fat off stocks.
